Academic Coaching
Our teachers work with Generation Ready Coaches for both ELA and Math. In each of their regular visits, the coach meets with the teacher, helps to assist and support instruction, and models suggested strategies whenever possible. We are also supported by the role of Special Education Liaison (current middle grade teacher) Ms. Ashley Gleason, whose emphasis is to support inclusive and academic services for all students.
Our coaches model each initiative put forth by the Diocesan Office of Schools. The current focus is to establish Multi-Tiered Supports of Support for all students.
Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) is a helpful plan that schools use to make sure every student gets exactly what they need to succeed. It can be compared to a ladder with three different steps, or 'tiers', to help students with their schoolwork and their behavior.

How the Tiers Work
-
Tier 1 (The Whole Class)
This is the first step where every student learns together. Teachers use lessons that work for most. It’s the foundation that helps everyone stay on track.

-
Tier 2 (Small Groups)
Sometimes, a few students might struggle with a specific topic, like fractions or reading. In Tier 2, these students work in small groups to get extra practice and a little more help from the teacher.

-
Tier 3 (Individual Help)
If a student is still having difficulty, they move to Tier 3. This is like having a personal coach. They get very intense, one-on-one help to solve their specific challenges.

The best part about MTSS is that it isn’t just about grades; it also helps kids learn how to manage their feelings and act appropriately in class. By checking in on students often, teachers can catch problems early and help everyone reach the finish line!
