Jeannie Curtin has been our 6th grade teacher since 2016. Her teaching career started in public schools in Long Island teaching 5th and 6th grade. She graduated Queens College with a Bachelor degree in Communications in the Arts and Media. Touro College is where she earned her Master degree in General and Special Education. Before teaching, she worked in the Media industry and brings her experience into her lessons.

ELA- Reading Street
Social Studies – Discovering Our Past: A History of the World
Overview:
6th Grade ELA focuses on inferences, making connections, analyzing text, main idea and citing text examples. These skills are used in our Reading Street stories along with novels grade level novels.
6th Grade Social Studies focuses on Ancient Civilization (Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, China, and India).
Highlights of the Year:
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan was our first novel we read this year and students practices these skills. Students were very engaged during each read aloud for each chapter.
Students are currently working on creating their own Greek god/goddess story or Greek god/goddess IMovie commercial advertisement.
