Back to School Information - Grades K-8

Please see the following information that was emailed out to parents. If you are a parent and did not receive the information, please email me at tmorris@diobrook.org so I can add you to the distribution list.


Dear Parents,

I hope you are in the midst of an enjoyable summer vacation. Please see the following information as we prepare for the start of school this Fall.


1st Day of School and 1st Week Schedule

Grades K-8 will begin on Wednesday September 6 with a 12:30 dismissal. After-school will be available. Starting on Thursday September 7, we will proceed with full days - 3:00pm dismissal. After-school will be available. SONYC will begin for grades 6-8 on Monday September 18 .


School Supplies

*Supply Lists are posted on the website. Students may need requested items throughout the year.

*Do not send ALL the school supplies on the first day of school. Send a little each day throughout the first week of school. Please make sure all your supplies are LABELED with the child’s name, especially on the outside of the bag


Arrival Schedule

There will be early drop-off/arrival in the gym for students in grades K-8 beginning at 7:15 am. Starting at 7:45am, the students will go straight to the classrooms. From 8:00 am on, students will be marked late. Please make sure your student is on time each day.


Morning Drop - Off --- Vehicles

*Between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM the area in front of the school on 83rd Street AND in front of the Parish Center on 84th Street is reserved for parents dropping off students. Parking is not permitted.

*Parents who want to walk their child(ren) to a door MUST find a nearby parking place.


Procedures for Dismissal (3:00pm for Grades 3-8, Grades K-2 staggered starting at 2:55pm)

Front of the Annex on 83 Street Grades 3 and 5

School Yard Annex (near the gym door) Grades Kindergarten, 1, 2, 4

Main Building 83rd Street Door Class 7-1, 8-1

Main Building 83rd Street Side Door Class 6-1, 8-2

Uniforms and Dress Codes

(Information was sent home in June regarding requirements for the uniform and shoes. The school handbook will be updated online the 1st week of school with the full policy). Quick reminders --

*Other than the student’s Gym day, full uniform must be worn, depending on the season

*Black dress shoes are required on non-Gym days

*Socks --- Designer socks are not permitted in school.

Boys: white or black (On Gym days - white only)

Girls: maroon with regular uniform; maroon or white with summer uniform (Gym -white)

*Only appropriate length haircuts and natural color hair styles are allowed

*Please keep in mind we will be enforcing the policy this year. If your student is not in compliance the parent will be notified at arrival and if the proper item isn’t brought, he/she will miss recess.


Calendars: The annual calendar for 2023-2024 is posted on the website www.saintadalbertca.org. Monthly calendars will also be posted on the website. All annual dates are tentative at this time.

Tuition was due in July for parents who opted for the 5-payment plan. This payment must be completed on or before Wednesday 8/23. If there is an issue with this date, please email Mrs. Morelli at mmorelli@saintadalbertca.org. On September 5, the school office will be open from 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Tuition payments will not be accepted on the first day of school.


Sign-Up for Regular Communication and Blasts

We will continue to use FACTS for our student data system which also provides the Parent Alerts.


Back to School Open House Meetings

These meetings will take place in-person for grades 1-8 on Thursday September 14 at 6:30pm. Kindergarten’s Open House will take place on Wednesday September 6 at 7:00pm. More information to follow.
